CDW CONFERENCE 2026 in TalTech
Construction and demolition waste is an important resource. Its smart and targeted use helps reduce costs and create new value chains. Purposeful valorisation increases resource efficiency and supports the competitiveness of the sector. However, these materials have so far been used rather modestly as high-quality secondary raw materials.
CDW Conference 2026 focuses on how to expand the use of construction and demolition waste in a reliable and effective way. On 6 May 2026, experts, researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders gathered in Tallinn (Estonia) at the Lasnamรคe Circular Economy Center to explore innovative and practical ways to turn construction and demolition waste into valuable resources. The conference was conducted within the framework of the StoPWa project communication and dissemination activities under the Interreg Central Baltic Programme 2021โ2027.
The conference featured a panel discussion dedicated to StoPWa project:
‘Stormwater solutions from Construction Waste‘
Keynote presentations were given by Arto Pennanen, StoPWa project coordinator from city of Lahti, and Mika Horttanainen, professor from LUT University. The discussion highlighted ๐ต๐ผ๐ ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐๐ช ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น๐ ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ by transforming waste into valuable filtration and drainage solutions for greener and more resilient cities.

On 7 May 2026, site visits took place at various locations, including the StoPWa project Estonian pilot site, giving participants the opportunity to explore practical solutions and see firsthand how circular applications of construction and demolition waste are implemented in practice.
