CDW CONFERENCE 2026 in TalTech

Construction and demolition waste is an important resource. Its smart and targeted use helps reduce costs and create new value chains. Purposeful valorisation increases resource efficiency and supports the competitiveness of the sector. However, these materials have so far been used rather modestly as high-quality secondary raw materials.

CDW Conference 2026 focuses on how to expand the use of construction and demolition waste in a reliable and effective way. On 6 May 2026, experts, researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders gathered in Tallinn (Estonia) at the Lasnamรคe Circular Economy Center to explore innovative and practical ways to turn construction and demolition waste into valuable resources. The conference was conducted within the framework of the StoPWa project communication and dissemination activities under the Interreg Central Baltic Programme 2021โ€“2027.

The conference featured a panel discussion dedicated to StoPWa project:

Keynote presentations were given by Arto Pennanen, StoPWa project coordinator from city of Lahti, and Mika Horttanainen, professor from LUT University. The discussion highlighted ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜„ ๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฟ ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—–๐——๐—ช ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น๐˜€ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜ ๐˜€๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ by transforming waste into valuable filtration and drainage solutions for greener and more resilient cities.

On 7 May 2026, site visits took place at various locations, including the StoPWa project Estonian pilot site, giving participants the opportunity to explore practical solutions and see firsthand how circular applications of construction and demolition waste are implemented in practice.
