Interreg Project Team Meets in Lappeenranta and Visits Pilot Site in Imatra
On 18–19 February 2026, the SustainaCycle project team gathered for an Interreg partner meeting in Lappeenranta, Finland.
The full-day programme on 18 February included a visit to the SaimaanVirta Ry pilot site in Imatra, followed by focused discussions on ongoing work in Work Packages 1, 2 and 3.
During the visit to SaimaanVirta Ry, partners learned about the organisation’s activities in the Imatra region, where it operates as a social and community service provider offering workshop-styletraining, employment support services and practical recycling activities, including textile reuse and materials handling. The pilot site serves as a space for hands-on learning, resource recoveryand cooperation on circular economy practices in everyday work and training environments.
The meetings that followed focused on progress in key project areas:
- Work Package 1 – mapping circular value chains and stakeholder engagement
- Work Package 2 – innovative collection solutions and demo activities
- Work Package 3 – communication, awareness and education campaigns
Partners also used the opportunity to exchange experiences and plan next steps for upcoming activities, strengthening cross-border collaboration within the Central Baltic region.
