The Re:Fish project, funded by the EU Interreg Central Baltic Programme, has been ongoing for three years in Sweden, Estonia, and Finland, and will conclude in February 2026. The purpose of the project has been to improve the coastal and marine environment of the Baltic Sea. It has carried out retrieval operations of lost nets and fishing gear from recreational fishers, collected end-of-life gear, gained knowledge through citizen science, tested deposit systems, and conducted awareness-raising campaigns about the problems of ghost fishing and lost fishing gear.
