Learning from circular construction initiatives in Gothenburg

As part of the Waste to Value project, partners visited Gothenburg to explore practical approaches to circular construction and building reuse.

The study visit included Kretsloppsparken Högsbo, a new circular hub combining reuse, repair and recycling services, as well as Kaj 16, where participants learned about the implementation of reuse in a large-scale construction project. Insights from both sites highlighted the importance of early planning, collaboration and effective logistics in making circular solutions work in practice.

Our project group at Kretsloppsparken Högsbo. The wall is constructed from an old roof in coppar, from an old building in central Gothenburg. The bathroom has recycled materials, and is installed in this brand new location.

At Kaj 16, project partners explored a 14-storey office development that combines impressive views of Gothenburg with practical examples of reuse in construction, demonstrating how circularity can be implemented in large-scale building projects.

Study visits provide valuable opportunities for partners to exchange experiences, learn from pioneering initiatives and bring new ideas back to their own regions. The visit to Gothenburg offered inspiring examples of how circularity can be integrated into both infrastructure and construction projects.
