Podcast: Preserving History with VR
When people talk about virtual reality, the conversation often focuses on games and entertainment. But VR can also be a powerful way to experience places, people, and moments that no longer exist.
In the third episode of the CDG-Booster Podcast, we spoke with Egle Rääsk, CEO of the Estonian company BLUERAY, which uses immersive VR technologies to bring history and cultural heritage to life, allowing people to step into reconstructed historical environments and experience the past in entirely new ways. For their work promoting tourism, BLUERAY has been awarded multiple times in Estonia, and now, as one of the graduates of the first round of the CDG-Booster Accelerator programme, they are expanding their scope internationally.
Especially in times when historical artefacts are in danger, preserving stories and histories is a mission that Rääsk and his colleagues are proud to take on. Listen to how historical accuracy, storytelling, education, and virtual reality come together, and what organisations can learn from creating immersive experiences that truly engage people.
