Central Baltic cooperation opportunities in solidarity with Ukraine
The European Union, its Member States and Europeans across the continent are doing what they can to support people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
We at the Central Baltic Programme share strongly Interreg core values of cooperation and cohesion that act as a foundation for peace and development.
In the new funding period, we have possibilities for supporting cross-border projects targeting less competitive groups, including immigrants, and young people as well as public bodies to help those fleeing the zone of war to settle, find jobs or housing in the Central Baltic region.
Such project applications are welcome under
Programme Objective 6 and Programme Objective 7.
Applications on how cooperation can make the #CentralBaltic region better for all groups is needed now more than ever. Our first call for applications will close March 31 at 12:00 EET. Even though the timing is short for submitting project applications, we encourage our applicants to develop such kinds of project ideas for the upcoming calls.
For immediate support to help people escape from the war, the Commission has adopted the CARE proposal, which is allowing the Member States and regions to provide emergency support. These needs include access to services such as temporary accommodation, food and water supplies or medical care. The European solidarity in action is helping people through direct humanitarian aid, emergency civil protection assistance, support at the border, as well as by giving them a clear legal status allowing those fleeing the war to receive immediate protection in the EU.
To fully implement the EU restrictive measures, the Commission has suspended the cooperation with Russia and Belarus in nine cross-border cooperation programmes and one transnational programme under the programming period 2014-2020.
In continuation of the previous cooperation programme, the participating regions in the Central Baltic Programme 2021-2027 are situated in Estonia, Finland including Åland, Latvia and Sweden. Our projects are not actively working with Russian organisations; such activities could also not be planned or financed in the known future.
We are part of the EU family and stand united in its solidarity with Ukraine.
