VINCE project partners met in Turku, Finland

The VINCE project partners met in September 2023 when the Swedish partners visited Turku. The visit involved getting to know the activities of Turku University of Applied Sciences, International House Turku and Sateenkaari Koto NGO.

The project partners Åsa Hedberg, Annelie Ingmar, Roberto Felizia, Emira Bajric and Malin Creutz from Refugee Health Center and County Administrative Board of Östergötland visited Turku on 13-14 September 2023.

The project team started their day by getting to know Turku University of Applied Sciences. The programme included a joint visit to Turku University of Applied Sciences’ FIT Turku osaamiskeskus (competence centre), where Aapo Nikkula and Alex Lindberg presented the virtual environments implemented in different projects to the Swedes, as well as the pilot environment implemented in the VINCE project. They were also able to test how things work in the virtual world.

In the afternoon, it was time to get acquainted with the activities of International House Turku. The guests were informed of measures to promote the integration of the city’s multilingual population, regardless of their residence grounds, such as language learning and employment.

The second day of the visit was spent in Sateenkaari Koto NGO in their premises in Kaarina. The participants heard about the association, which includes volunteer work and the activities of the Teaching Home Mustikka to improve the life management of customers in the new culture.

The day was continued with good cooperation by refining the plans.
