The project aims to develop and implement a training programme that enables persons with disabilities to find work in advising public authorities on web accessibility.
The novel training approach will allow persons with disabilities to build on personal experiences to develop specialized skills and knowledge in web accessibility.
The project is a cross-border cooperation between the Åland Islands Disability Rights Federation and the Funka Foundation in Sweden. Common qualifications will be created to enable the training participants to use their web accessibility skills in both countries.
In the jointly conducted training programme, 15 people with disabilities from Åland and the Stockholm region will be trained to assess and provide feedback to public organisations on the accessibility of their websites and apps. The training programme will be developed jointly to include experiences and knowledge from both regions. As a result, the participants will be well equipped to provide support services in both Åland and Sweden. To enhance the practical skills of the participants and increase their employability, the participants will conduct practical assignments as workplace training. The assignments will take place in a cross-border cooperation involving public authorities from both regions.
The training programme, including the curriculum and materials will be sustained by the two partner organisations for further use after the project to train more user experts.
