Sustainable Silage team and Steering group visited Saaremaa pilot farmers
In 02.-04.of July 2024 the Sustainable Silage project Working and Steering group had joint meeting in Kuressaare, Saaremaa, where partners shared interim results of pilot actions and trials arranged in demo farms in Estonia, Finland and Latvia. Nisola Ayanfe from LUKE team, Finland shared the results of the pilot scale ensiling experiment- how different silage management practices affect silage effluents production. Marcia Franco from LUKE team introduced the results of the Finnish farm silage aerobic stability survey. The team also reviewed the first draft chapters of the manual of available agri-environmental technologies and practices in silage production. Between the meetings the group visited 2 pilot farms in Saaremaa, Mereranna farm and Rauni farm, and monitored how the Lümanda Beef farm cattle is taking care of seaside meadows of West-Saaremaa.
