Silverskill Project Kick-off Event: Empowering Over-50s with Digital and Green Skills

The Silverskill project, a new initiative aimed at equipping people over 50 in the Ida-Virumaa region with essential digital and green skills, will host its opening event on October 12, 2024, at the Kohtla-Järve Cultural Center. The project is designed to enhance the competitiveness of participants in the labour market and entrepreneurship by offering free training in Estonian, consisting of eight carefully curated modules.

The kick-off event, beginning at 11 AM, will be moderated by Mare Roosileht and feature a comprehensive introduction to the project’s goals, structure, and the opportunities it creates for participants. Marianne Kama will present the Silverskill project, while Anneki Teelahk from the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund will provide an overview of the current labour market situation, focusing on the challenges faced by older workers. Real-life examples will also be shared to highlight the importance of the program.

After a coffee break, participants will engage in interactive ice-breaking activities led by Kaire Viil. These activities are designed to encourage participants to share their personal expectations and goals related to the program.

The Silverskill project aims to foster both personal and professional growth, with modules covering self-development, mentoring, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. The program is open to all over-50s in the region, providing them with the tools needed to thrive in today’s fast-evolving job market.
