Siim Reinla, MUSTBE project’s Lead Manager, Viimsi Municipality, Estonia

Siim Reinla is the Lead Project Manager of the MUSTBE project. Reinla works for the Viimsi Municipality in Estonia, overseeing funding applications and managing funded projects. With a background in municipal stormwater system management, he brings valuable expertise to the field. In addition to the MUSTBE project, he is actively involved in other initiatives focused on innovative green infrastructure.

Maria Svensson, Project developer, Söderhamn Municipality, Sweden

Maria Svensson is a Project Developer at Söderhamn Municipality, specialising in strategic project development and funding applications. She is actively involved in the MUSTBE project’s initiatives in Söderhamn that focus on sustainable nature-based stormwater management solutions. 

Maria Svensson will be presenting The Municipality of Söderhamn’s strategic work in Interreg and stormwater management

Dr. Nils Kändler, Senior Researcher, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia 

Nils Kändler is a senior researcher at the TalTech Urban Water Systems Research Group. He holds a Chartered Engineer qualification, specializing in training and innovation in water supply and sewerage. His work primarily focuses on the transitions in urban water systems due to climate change and aging infrastructure. Kändler has extensive expertise in modelling and designing urban water networks, utilizing GIS systems, and developing smart solutions to better adapt to future urban challenges.

Jakob Lindvall, Stormwater Engineer, Sigma 

Jakob Lindvall has worked as a designer of stormwater systems in Swedish projects since 2022, when he graduated from Lunds Tekniska Högskola. He has been involved in the MUSTBE project as a designer of the stormwater system in both Broberg and Söderhamnsporten in Söderhamn.

Ida Gomez Bergström, Team Leader for Stormwater Consultants, Swedish Environment Protection Agency / AFRY  

Ida Gomez Bergström holds a Master of Science in Engineering, specializing in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure. She has 8 years of experience as a consultant working with stormwater investigations, covering everything from early, strategic planning phases to more detailed stages closer to construction, with a focus on stormwater and torrential rain event management. In her professional role, Ida serves as the at AFRY, overseeing teams in Uppsala, Gävle, and Västerås. 

Ida Gomez Bergström and Sophia Flybring will be presenting Approaches to Stormwater Treatment in Consulting Projects

Sofia Flybring, Stormwater Consultant, Swedish Environment Protection Agency / AFRY 

Sophia Flybring holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Gävle, with a focus on environmental engineering, environmental psychology, and urban planning. She works as a stormwater consultant at AFRY, assessing the need for stormwater treatment and detention while contributing to the development of methodologies for conducting stormwater investigations. Sophia has experience representing AFRY at industry fairs and external assignments, and she collaborates within the company to refine approaches for stormwater and torrential rain assessments. 

Sophia Flybring and Ida Gomez Bergström will be presenting Approaches to Stormwater Treatment in Consulting Projects

Aleksi Siirtola, Project Manager and Civil Engineer, Pori Municipality, Finland 

Aleksi Siirtola works in the City of Pori’s flood protection department in the development of stormwater management. His responsibilities include the preparation of the city’s stormwater management programme and the management of the multidisciplinary stormwater working group. One of the objectives of Pori’s stormwater programme is to increase the use of nature-based solutions in stormwater management. In the MUSTBE project, Aleksi acts as a project manager for the City of Pori and is the developer for both pilot sites in Pori.  

Aleksi Siirtola will be presenting Preliminary Results and Lessons Learnt from Pori Pilot Sites

Jurijs Kondratenko, Project Manager and Expert, Riga Technical University, Latvia 

Jurijs Kondratenko works as a project manager and expert at Riga Technical University (RTU) in Latvia. In the MUSTBE project, RTU is leading Work Package 3, which focuses on monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the developed solutions.
