Pärnu Day 2025: Cycling Season Opens with Record Turnout
On April 5th, Pärnu celebrated its annual Pärnu Day with the traditional season-opening group ride, organised by the NGO Pärnu Rattarikkaks in partnership with the City of Pärnu. Over 100 cyclists took to the streets for a spirited 90-minute, 10-kilometre ride through the city, which was double the number from last year, when cold weather and morning snow kept attendance closer to 50 riders.
Following the ride, participants had the chance to catch the newly released Estonian film Our Erika (Meie Erika) at the cinema. The film tells the story of Erika Salumäe, a two-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion in track cycling, whose journey took her from an orphanage all the way to world records and Olympic gold.
