Kick OUT event in Mikkeli, Finland

On May 11–13, 2026, the closing event for the first cohort of the Baltic Circular Threads program took place in Mikkeli, Finland. At the program’s final event, young creative entrepreneurs from Estonia and Finland had the opportunity to develop their pitching and presentation skills under the guidance of Helsinki-based coach Elsa Ervasti. They also showcased their creations both at a pop-up sales area and in a fashion show presented to the audience.

The young designers presented unique garments and accessories on the runway during the fashion show, which was based on the principles of sustainable design and the circular economy. Visitors showed great interest in the participants’ sales area, where they could purchase one-of-a-kind products directly from the creators. For the youth, this provided valuable practical experience in interacting with customers, as well as promoting and selling their products.

The event was also covered by the local Finnish newspaper Länsi-Savo. Program participant Mirelle Lepp, who utilizes lace-making techniques, highlighted in her interview that the training related to branding and marketing was particularly valuable to her, helping her better conceptualize her creations and discover her personal marketing style.

Based on participant feedback, the workshops on marketing, branding, and storytelling were considered the most beneficial topics of the program. The international dimension of the program—featuring the kick-off event in Tartu and the closing event in Mikkeli—was also highly appreciated. The majority of the participants would recommend the program to other young people interested in the creative sector.

The opening event for the program’s first cohort was held in Tartu on March 4–6, 2026. This was followed by online workshops led by Estonian and Finnish industry experts, culminating in the final event in Mikkeli. A total of 26 young participants interested in creative entrepreneurship took part in the program.
