Farmers and experts gathered for ReGen AGRI field day in Estonia

On 9 June 2026, more than 100 farmers and agricultural experts gathered at the main premises of Aru Põllumajanduse OÜ in Lääne-Viru County, where Aru Põllumajanduse OÜ, Northern Roots NGO, and the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce organised a field day focusing on balanced fertilisation. The field day was opened by Jakob Johan Lindam, Chairman of the Management Board of Aru Põllumajanduse OÜ, and Kerli Ats, Chair of the Management Board of the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce.

During the presentations, experts Olivier de Schaetzen, Stefan Gernert, Jaan Ahlberg, and Sander Hiire from Northern Roots NGO and the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce introduced field trials being carried out under the INTERREG Central-Baltic ReGen AGRI project. The trials focus on balanced fertilisation and reducing nutrient leaching. The keynote speaker was Australian plant and soil health consultant and trainer Joel Williams, who delivered a presentation entitled “Cost-effective Nutrient Management and Foliar Feeding.” Stefan Gernert also presented field trials on the dynamic adjustment of crop nutrient balance, conducted in cooperation with Aru Põllumajanduse OÜ, Kaiu LT OÜ, Mäemõisa OÜ, and Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge Center.

Due to rainy weather, the planned field visit was initially replaced with an indoor presentation of the trials in Aru Põllumajanduse OÜ’s large hangar, where the entire event took place. The trials were presented by Stefan Gernert and Sander Valdre from Aru Põllumajanduse OÜ. Joel Williams shared his observations and recommendations, followed by a question-and-answer session and an open discussion among participants. But as the sun came out and rain stopped, then it was possible to go out and conduct field monitoring with last participants.
