Canada Is Opening New Opportunities for Nordic and Baltic Companies
Canada is looking for new international partnerships as tariffs have slowed trade with the United States. This shift is opening new opportunities for European companies, particularly in the Nordic and Baltic region.

For the Transport sector, the timing is especially interesting. Canada is investing in transport and infrastructure, creating opportunities for Nordic and Baltic expertise in areas such as intelligent infrastructure, transport data, automation, cybersecurity, low-emission mobility, and the digitalisation of ports and logistics.
Finland and Canada also share many characteristics that make cooperation in smart mobility a natural fit, including demanding winter conditions, long distances and the need for resilient and efficient transport systems.
ITS Finland’s EU-funded JASMEX project, launched in March, aims to promote transport-sector exports to Canada and Türkiye. Running until 2029, the project provides companies in our network with support in areas such as market intelligence, identifying potential partners, monitoring procurement opportunities and mapping relevant local stakeholders.
A comprehensive market report provides more information on Ontario’s intelligent transport market and the opportunities emerging from major investments in the region.
Companies can also explore the JASMEX market intelligence tool to discover potential partners in Canada and Türkiye, explore new procurement opportunities and access procurement data from the intelligent transport market.
Next stop: Montreal in June 2027
Now is a good time to explore the opportunities available in Canada and mark the beginning of June in your calendar. ITS Finland is preparing a delegation to Montreal around the ITS Canada 2027 Annual Conference & Expo.
Together with other Nordic+ organisations, we will have a joint presence at the event, creating a platform for Nordic and Baltic companies to build connections with Canadian stakeholders and explore opportunities for cooperation.
The conference’s Call for Contribution provides an overview of the key themes. There is also still an opportunity to apply to join the programme as a speaker or panellist. The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2026.
Explore the Canadian market, find potential partners and join us in Montreal.
