Bio-CCU and Gästrike Ekogas featured on Swedish Radio

Henrik Wahlman, CEO of Gästrike Ekogas, was interviewed by Sveriges Radio P4 Gävleborg about Gästrike Ekogas’ contribution to the Bio-CCU project.

Biogas production always generates biogenic CO₂, which today is released into the air at the biogas plant in Forsbacka. Bio-CCU aims to change that. In the interview, Henrik says that one possible use is in the food industry, for example for carbonation in beverage production. The goal is a more local circular loop, where a by-product of biogas becomes a valuable resource.

Gästrike Ekogas serves as one of the project’s pilot sites. Together with researchers at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and within the Bio-CCU project led by the University of Gävle, Gästrike Ekogas will explore how the CO₂ can be captured, purified and put to use locally.
