Central Baltic project is among the 25 finalists of the EU-funded project excellence competition RegioStars 2024
We are thrilled to announce that the SMART E67 project is chosen among the 25 finalists in Regiostars awards, the EU-wide prestigious competition.
The Smart E67 project aimed at increasing efficiency and safety of passenger and cargo mobility in the Central Baltic region by introducing Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) on a key transport corridor – E67 – in Estonia and Latvia.
By introducing ITS elements such as roadside variable message signs, modernised traffic lights, and road weather information systems, the project contributed to improved traffic efficiency, safety, and reduction of CO2 emissions.
In total, 262 applications were evaluated in the competition, with 25 making it to the finals. We will keep our fingers crossed for Smart E67 project and wish all the best to other finalists. You can cast your vote, too!
The RegioStars competition also includes public voting. It will start on September 2, and everyone interested will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite project on the REGIOSTARS website.
The finalists will pitch their projects in front of a jury during the 22nd European Week of Regions and Cities from October 7 to 10. The winners will be announced at an award ceremony on 9 October.
