Europe Day 2025: Celebrating 75 Years of Unity and Cooperation
On 9 May, Europeans will celebrate Europe Day, marking the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration. This historic declaration laid the foundations for the European Union, paving the way for an era of prosperity, peace, democracy, solidarity, and cooperation in Europe.
To commemorate this milestone, numerous events will take place across EU Member States and around the world, bringing together citizens from all walks of life. The EU institutions will open their doors, inviting citizens to visit their premises, discover their work, and engage in a wide range of educational and entertaining activities. Landmark buildings and monuments globally will be illuminated in the EU colours, while a special Europe Day programme is planned for Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
Celebrating 35 Years of Interreg
This year’s Europe Day also marks 35 years of Interreg, Europe’s flagship programme for territorial cooperation. Interreg works with 86 programmes, including the Central Baltic Programme, to tackle common challenges through seven thematic objectives. These objectives align with EU policy priorities and reflect the commitment to a stronger, more inclusive, and connected continent.
On this day, the Central Baltic Programme and our national Contact Points are actively celebrating Europe Day, either online or by participating in local events. Check out the Europe Day celebrations in Estonia and Finland, where our colleagues are at the spot this year, joining in the festivities and promoting the spirit of unity and cooperation:
