Driving the Future of Smart Mobility Together: A Four-Day Journey Across Borders
In November (10.-13.11.2025), ITS Finland and ITL Estonia proudly co-hosted an international delegation with ITS Estonia and ITS Latvia, welcoming Intelligent Transport Systems UK for a four-day, four-city mission dedicated to networking, collaboration, and shaping the future of mobility.
Day 1 – Riga, Latvia
The journey began in Riga with high-level meetings at Riga City Council, the Ministry of Transport, and leading Latvian ITS companies. A highlight was the Rail Baltica session and site tour—a visionary project connecting the Baltics to Europe. At Riga Central Station, delegates witnessed innovation in action, as sustainability and digitalization were embedded into infrastructure from the ground up. Networking with Rail Baltica experts sparked discussions on future transport corridors and smart mobility solutions. A big thank you to ITS Latvia and Valts Murāns for hosting an inspiring start.

Day 2 – Tallinn, Estonia
Tallinn showcased Estonia’s digital leadership. From the e-Estonia Briefing Centre to Metrosert’s groundbreaking launch of Europe’s first Mobile Autonomous Vehicle Test Lab, the day was packed with innovation. This mobile lab enables real-world autonomous vehicle testing, making safety validation accessible and cost-effective. Government briefings and a visit to the Port of Tallinn deepened insights into smart city strategies and data-driven mobility. Kudos to ITS Estonia and Lili Kuusk for flawless arrangements.

Day 3 – Lahti & Vuosaari, Finland
Finland’s program highlighted EV charging and smart logistics. Delegates toured Kempower’s manufacturing facilities in Lahti, explored cutting-edge solutions at LUT University, and visited Vuosaari Harbour to learn about sustainable port operations. Ramboll hosted a dynamic networking session, reinforcing partnerships and shared visions for intelligent transport systems. Special thanks to Central Baltic Programme for supporting this collaborative effort.

Day 4 – Helsinki Finale
The mission concluded with a breakfast at the British Embassy, hosted by Ambassador Laura Davies, who captured the spirit of the delegation: “The UK and Finland’s shared commitment to innovation, R&D, and net zero makes us natural partners.” A private tram tour with HSL and Tampere Tramway showcased Nordic excellence in public transport, followed by the ITS Finland Fall Seminar at BioRex Tripla—an inspiring close focused on business-driven ITS innovation.

Across four days, four cities, and countless conversations, this ISMEF delegation proved one thing: collaboration drives progress. Together, ITS UK, ITS Finland, ITS Estonia, and ITS Latvia are building a smarter, safer, and more sustainable transport future.
