New Nordic Project Partners explored Latvia

From 22 October to 25 October 2025 partners of the Interreg Central Baltic New Nordic project from Finland, Latvia, and Estonia took part in vibrant three-day cultural and nature-focused experience through Latvia’s historical landmarks, culinary gems, and breathtaking landscapes.
Day 1: A Taste of Old Riga
The journey began in the heart of Riga with an atmospheric excursion through the city’s historic center. Participants were treated to a visit to the enchanting Black Magic Bar, known for its mystical ambiance and traditional Riga Black Balsam. The day concluded with a medieval dining experience at Rozengrāls, one of the oldest restaurants in the city, offering a glimpse into Latvia’s rich gastronomic past.
Day 2: Nature and Flavors of Vidzeme
The second day was dedicated to Sigulda and Turaida, where delegation explored the scenic Gauja National Park riding in the cable tram and the legendary Turaida Castle. Participating in the workshops offered the unique opportunity to enjoy the local craft making traditions. The journey continued to Ziedlejas, a modern take on Latvian sauna culture, followed by a visit to the Līgatne Winery, where local wines and stories flowed freely. The day ended with a culinary highlight at Pavāru Māja, a chef-led countryside Michelin restaurant blending innovation with tradition.
Day 3: Zemgale’s Elegance and Coastal Charm of Jūrmala
The final day took participants to the serene Mazmežotne Manor and the majestic Rundāle Palace, often referred to as the “Versailles of the Baltics.” The group then visited the Jūrmala Open-Air Museum, offering insights into the coastal fishing heritage of the region. In conclusion, the group ventured into nature with a walk through the Ķemeri Bog, experiencing Latvia’s unique wetland ecosystem. This three-day program showcased Latvia’s diverse offerings – from medieval charm and natural beauty to modern culinary artistry leaving participants inspired and enriched by the country’s cultural depth and scenic splendor.
