10–11 September 2026 | Tartu, Estonia

The RenEx project partners from Estonia, Finland and Latvia gathered in Tartu on 10–11 September 2026 for the project’s kick-off meeting, hosted by the lead partner INICIO Foundation at Tartu Biotechnology Park.

The meeting marked an important step in launching cooperation between the three partner organisations: INICIO Foundation (Estonia), Prizztech Ltd (Finland) and the Green and Smart Technology Cluster (Latvia).

RenEx – Renewable Energy Export Value Chains from Central Baltic – aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the renewable energy sector strengthen their international competitiveness by building cross-border value chains and developing joint export offers.

Connecting complementary strengths across borders

Renewable energy companies across the Central Baltic region offer a wide range of technologies, products and services. However, entering international markets individually can be challenging, particularly when customers require integrated solutions involving several technologies or specialised capabilities.
RenEx addresses this challenge by bringing together complementary companies from Estonia, Finland and Latvia to explore how their expertise can be combined into stronger, market-oriented solutions.

The project covers renewable energy production, storage and grid technologies, as well as applications in industry, mobility, buildings and other sectors.

From project launch to practical cooperation

Following the kick-off meeting, the partners have started mapping renewable energy SMEs and their capabilities across the three countries, identifying potential complementarities and exploring opportunities for joint export activities.

The United Kingdom has since been confirmed as the project’s joint export target market. The partners are now focusing on understanding UK market needs, identifying relevant business opportunities and exploring how Central Baltic SMEs could develop competitive solutions together.

The next steps include further SME mapping, assessing companies’ export readiness and developing a common approach to engaging interested businesses.
RenEx will also explore opportunities for matchmaking, knowledge sharing, market-entry support and joint export promotion.

Companies interested in international growth and cross-border cooperation are encouraged to follow the project for upcoming opportunities to get involved.
