Sustainable Silage exchange trip in Estonia

In 03.-06.10.2023 Finnish and Latvian farmers together with project team visited Estonia for exchange of experience in sustainable silage production. Participants learned the best experiences Hummuli Agro, Puutsa farm, Sadala Agro, Mangeni PM and Halinga farm how to arrange the silage production taking into consideration the agri-environmental and feed quality aspects, incl. handling silage effluents, using new technologies in land cultivation etc. In seminar organized in the Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge the farmers and silage experts discussed how farmers can adapt with difficult weather conditions caused by heat seasons during recent years in all 3 countries. The options for using more corn, alfalfa and new varieties like sorghum-sudangras was discussed.
