Sustainable Silage project team made plans in Finland

Sustainable Silage project partners had in 9.-10.of April 2024 a meeting in Finland, which was hosted by the Natural Resources Institute (LUKE). Partners introduced new plans for 2024 regarding the cooperation with 26 pilot farms, different kind of testing and trial activities are planned in grasslands, corn fields and silage storages. This year the practical manual will be composed for farmers introducing innovative environmentally friendly silage management practices, incl. case studies from Estonia, Latvia and Finland. LUKE team presented the first results of pilot scale ensiling experiment, which was conducted in 2023. The project team visited LUKE biogas station and Koli pilot farm, where 2 young farmers are making silage for fattening bulls. Next team meeting is planned for 2.-4.of July 2024 in Saaremaa, Estonia together with Steering Group.
