The Power of Who You Are – Personal Branding for Your Next Step

As a part of the CeMeWE project (Central Baltic Mentoring for Migrant Women Seeking Employment) on November 20, 2025, Laurea University hosted an event, The Power of Who You Are – Personal Branding for Your Next Step. The event was organized by Antonina Petrovic in an online format and featured a guest speaker, Kate Andrykhina.

Kate is a talented illustrator and entrepreneur in Espoo, and throughout the event, she shared her experience and knowledge within the field of social media. The Power of Who You Are – Personal Branding for Your Next Step focused on what a personal brand is and why it must be built carefully, especially on social media platforms.

During the event, participants not only received the theoretical material on brand making but also worked in groups, discussing the aspects of branding that should be looked into more carefully. They learned how to use their life experiences and turn them into a useful tool to promote themselves. This also allowed participants to comprehend how to build a brand to receive more job opportunities. To illustrate the contents of the event, this article features notes made during the event by one of the participants, Julita Viļuma.

Furthermore, Kate stated that the personal brand should be looked at as the story that is told to every single person around us. To create the appropriate vision, it was recommended to keep the branding consistent and to create it in accordance with the desirable outcome in the future. Furthermore, as personal branding is not only viewed by friends or family, but also by potential employers, it is important to keep the balance between the professional and vulnerable topics discussed on the social media page. Moreover, as it is not easy to share life experiences online, another important aspect of personal branding is courage. The main goal of the event was to encourage immigrant women to create their own brands despite the fears or uncertainty.

The Power of Who You Are – Personal Branding for Your Next Step webinar was perfect for immigrant women who wanted to both start or continue their career journey abroad. By learning how to create a personal brand, participants took the first step in finding new, exciting opportunities.

This activity was supported as part of Project – Central Baltic Mentoring for Migrant Women seeking Employment – CeMeWE CB0100070, as Interreg Central Baltic Programme 2021-2027 project co-funded by the European Union.
