Young Jaunsardze Members Join WSM Project Pilot in Latvia

At the end of June 2025, the WSM (Water Safety Methodology) project reached another important milestone with the successful pilot testing of the programme in Latvia. The testing took place in collaboration with our partners from the Latvian Beach Lifeguard Association (LGPA) and involved youth participants from the Jaunsardze Centre (4th Region).

On June 26–27, Jaunsardze members completed both theoretical and practical training sessions designed to strengthen their understanding of water safety. The curriculum focused on key topics such as recognizing water-related risks, using life-saving equipment, and responding to emergency situations safely and effectively.

This pilot was not only an opportunity to deliver the training but also a crucial phase in evaluating the methodology developed within the WSM project. Feedback collected from participants and instructors provided meaningful insights that helped us improve the structure and delivery of the programme.

The next round of pilot testing will take place on July 8 in Estonia, continuing our commitment to building a well-rounded, effective and accessible water safety education programme for young people across the region.

We thank all participants, trainers, and partners for their active involvement and valuable input. Together, we are working toward a safer future by equipping the next generation with the knowledge and skills to stay safe around water.
