The project tackles the cross-border challenge of engaging and retaining people aged 50–64 in Latvia and Estonia, especially those with humanities backgrounds. This group faces declining demand, lower incomes, and job disruption due to digitalisation and automation.
The project will co-design and deliver a cross-border training programme enabling participants to run international businesses on Etsy or provide e-commerce services to SMEs building a presence on the platform. It applies an interdisciplinary approach combining product creation, entrepreneurship, digital marketplace skills, and practical use of AI tools for real business tasks.
The partners will jointly develop and conduct a cross-border training course consisting of 14 events and 98 learning hours. A total of 100 individuals in pre-retirement age will be enrolled in the course during 2 cycles. 82 persons are anticipated to become active participants and benefit from increased entrepreneurship.
Thanks to cross-border cooperation, participants will enhance adaptability and openness to new ideas, engage in matchmaking with Latvian and Estonian entrepreneurs interested in running an Etsy shop, and learn to access foreign markets. It is expected that 30% of trainees will establish online businesses, thus improving their well-being and bringing value to the region.
Exercises conducted during the course will be consolidated into a Training Material Handbook and widely disseminated to stakeholders in the Programme Area and beyond.
