In both Finland and Latvia, daycare centres and municipalities often struggle to reach all families equally — particularly those with language barriers, low digital skills, or limited literacy. This means that some parents are left out of important conversations about their child’s early education, weakening trust and cooperation between families and educators. BRIDGE ECE was created to address this gap by developing practical, inclusive communication tools and training tailored to the real needs of families, daycare staff, and municipal representatives in both countries. The project will co-create an e-Guidebook, ready-to-use communication templates, and a toolkit — tested together with parents and educators across Finland and Latvia. This shared toolkit will be freely available to daycare centres and municipalities, helping them communicate in ways that include every family, regardless of background or language.
Expected results
BRIDGE ECE will deliver a jointly developed Toolkit for Inclusive Communication — a practical, freely available set of guidelines, message templates, and support materials designed for daycare centres, municipalities, and families in Finland and Latvia. The toolkit will be built together with the people who need it most: parents, educators, and local officials will be involved in testing and shaping the materials through pilot workshops in both countries. Staff and parents will receive hands-on training to put the tools into practice, and Sigulda Municipality in Latvia will integrate the toolkit directly into its municipal procedures to ensure it continues to be used beyond the project. Across borders, the project will create a shared model for inclusive communication in early childhood education — one that can be adopted and scaled by other municipalities and daycare providers in the Central Baltic region. Ultimately, BRIDGE ECE will help ensure that no parent is left out of their child’s early education simply because of language, literacy, or digital barriers.
