COMAND

The purpose of the COMAND project is to strengthen the digital capacity of small rural museums in Estonia and Finland and improve access to cultural heritage services for wider audiences. The project supports museums in the Lake Peipsi region in Estonia and Southern Finland by providing digital skills, tools, equipment, and cross-border cooperation opportunities that enable museums to preserve, present, and communicate their collections in innovative and accessible ways.

COMAND aims to improve public cultural services through digital transformation, helping museums reach schools, local communities, tourists, and international audiences while promoting regional cultural tourism and cooperation between Estonia and Finland.

Expected results

Improved digital skills and competencies of at least 20 museum professionals through training in digital curation, storytelling, exhibition design, communication, and marketing. Enhanced digital infrastructure and equipment for 8–10 small museums (4–5 in each country), enabling the creation and sharing of high-quality digital cultural content and services. Development of a joint cross-border digital outcome that combines museum collections and stories from Estonia and Finland, increasing visibility and accessibility of cultural heritage. Increased public awareness and engagement with local cultural heritage through outreach activities reaching at least 5,000 people, including schools, local communities, and tourists. Stronger cross-border cooperation and long-term networking between museums and cultural organisations in Estonia and Finland. Better accessibility of museum collections and educational materials for wider audiences through innovative digital solutions. Increased regional attractiveness and cultural tourism opportunities in the Lake Peipsi region and Southern Finland. More efficient use of resources through shared learning, joint procurement of equipment, and exchange of expertise between partners.
