Employment Development and
Growth for Everyone

Project period: May 2024 – July 2025

The employability programme welcomes people with a refugee background who want to enter the labor market in Estonia or Latvia or change their jobs. This programme is suitable for everyone, regardless of their work experience or current employment status in Estonia or Latvia.

A total of 24 groups will participate in the programme—12 groups in each partner country (Estonia and Latvia)—with an average of 12 participants per group. Each group will take part in a 5-day training over a two-week period. The programme runs for 12 months. Upon completion, participants in Estonia will have the opportunity to engage in work practice or job shadowing across various organizations. The training sessions are conducted in Russian and English.

WHO CAN TAKE PART?

The programme is designed for people with a refugee background in Estonia or Latvia, supporting their employment journey regardless of their previous work experience or current employment status. To participate, applicants must register through our platform and respond to a questionnaire. Each registered candidate will be contacted promptly and provided with feedback.

We welcome participants from all regions of Estonia and Latvia!
Most of the activities take place physically in Tallinn (Estonia) and Riga (Latvia). Transportation and accommodation costs for on-site events will be reimbursed. Participation is free, and the programme is held in English and Russian.

  2. Apply to the Employability Programme, to develop your skills and knowledge about  finding suitable work in Estonia or Latvia.
  3. Start implementing your new skills and have better possibilities in the labor market.

An introductory webinar series is open for everyone interested to learn more about the Empowering Refugees Employability Programme and the labor environment of Estonia.

TRAINING PROGRAMME

The employability training modules help participants become familiar with the Estonian and Latvian labor markets and explore job opportunities. Participants will work on setting work-related goals, overcoming challenges, building motivation, developing CVs and motivation letters, and practicing interview techniques. The programme is supported by experienced trainers and psychologists, with the added benefit of meeting like-minded peers.

The training sessions take place over a 12-month period in Tallinn (Estonia) and Riga (Latvia). Each participant will attend a 5-day training session over two weeks as part of the employability programme. Training sessions also include homework assignments.

The training modules are as follows (NB! the order of the modules may change):

  1. module  – overview of the application process and job search opportunities. Introduction to the documents required for a successful application. Overview of different CV submission platforms and types of interviews.
  2. module  – overview of national labour market policies, main national institutions supporting workers, legal bases, and legislation. Experience stories and advice from HR specialists.
  3. module  – supporting the participant’s personality. Analysis of strengths, and skills. Supporting self-management skills. Coping in communication and supporting intrinsic motivation.
  4. module  – psychological support for the participant to successfully find his/her place in the labour market.
  5. module  – interview process and stages. Practice. Putting into practice the knowledge acquired – role plays, simulation of job interviews, group interviews etc.
