The AIM

Central Baltic Region youth trying different professions”, or in short, “Your Future Profession” project aims to address the employment challenges faced by young people aged 18-25, focusing on improving their ability to overcome failures and fostering entrepreneurship, leadership skills, self-realization, and personal development. The Project is about increasing the employability and entrepreneurial capabilities of young individuals. By supporting informal education activities during the project, the goal is to back the transition from education to employment. By doing so, the project enhances the competitiveness and personal development of young people taking a part in it.

The project PROCESS

“Your Future Profession” will consist of two six month cycles, in which a total of 80 unique participants will participate. The first cycle of the project will start on November 1st with an ONLINE kick-off event, where participants will get to know the project’s programme and leadership team, as well as be inspired by the speakers and guests of the event. During the first month of the project, the participants will work individually with career counselors and take various career and personality tests in order to define their interests, strenghts and potential career paths. From December to April, the participants will have the opportunity to visit various companies in so called “Strike Practices”, work individually with mentors, and once a month participate in online events and joint workshops about various professional and personal growth topics. In the last month of the project, the most active participants will have the opportunity to go on an international internship exchange.

The first cycle of the project will be concluded in April 2025, but the main kick-out event will take place at the end of the second cycle of the project on November 27th and 28th, 2025 in person, in Liepaja (Latvia), during which all 80 participants from both project cycles will gather to network, gain additional knowledge, experience, and motivation to move forward towards their career goals.

The Strike Practice Bank

The Strike Practice Bank is a summary of companies and organizations which participants will have the opportunity to visit, learn about the operations of the companies and see how different professions work in real life. Participants will have the opportunity to choose to visit companies in their home country.

LATVIA

VECĀS OSTMALAS BUSINESS PARK is owner, developer and manager of an industrial business park in Latvia, city of Liepāja who provides local and foreign investors with the facilities needed to start or expand their business activities. Participants can apply for both short visits and internships, as well as learn about wire harnesses, engeneering, port work, 3D works, industrial design, labor protection, forestry and many other fields from different partner companies, such as: Care of Sweden, ARKA lux, CRIMPPI, AE Partner, Lat Kartons, CUC / CUC engineering, and K-Design Solutions. “Northside Business Park” SIA LSEZ is the owner, developer and manager of an industrial business park in Liepāja. Participants can learn about corporate work, trading, production, warehouse work, services and many other fields from 104 different partner companies.

Participants can learn about cnc+robots, technical fields, the company and its growth story, production processes, job opportunities, how automated numerically controlled turning and milling machine tools work, as well as take a tour and try some practical things at hand.

The company offers a 3-4 hour tour, in which participants can learn about the professions of power supply designer, electrical engineer, project manager, renewable energy market in Latvia. There is a chance also to learn about the professions of electrician, electrical fitter, electrical technician, and engineering communications construction manager, if specified early.

Participants can learn about welding professions, sawing and drilling – locksmith.

Participants can apply for 1-2 days of internships and learn about various types of work, including cargo handling, mechanics, and freight forwarding.

Liepāja City Board of Education offers several types of internships in their infrastructures:

1. Science and Education Innovation Center (ZIIC). Areas of activity – educational technologies, science theater, natural science exhibits. Positions represented – customer service specialist,
educational work specialist, expert in natural science and science theater issues.

2. Nature House. Areas of activity – nature and environmental research, exhibition of interactive installations. Positions represented – customer service specialist, nature education specialist, environmental expert.

3. Digital manufacturing laboratory “FabLab Liepāja”. Areas of activity – computer-aided design and digital manufacturing. Positions represented – expert in educational technologies and digital manufacturing.

Participants can learn about several professions: Procurement specialist/ manager; Production planner; Customer support manager; Finance manager/ accountant; Human resources manager/ specialist; Product development manager/ engineer;
Process industrialization manager/ engineer; Technical support manager/ mechanic; Quality manager/ specialist; Production manager/ shift manager/ robot operator; Warehouse worker/ warehouse administrator.

Participants can learn about waiter and barista professions, as well as gain insight into entrepreneurship related to catering.

Participants can learn about restaurant manager, waiter, and chef/ cook professions.

Participants can apply for 1-2 day internship and learn about fitness club administrator and receptionist/ administrator professions.

Participans can apply for 1 day “shadowing” internship and learn about the dentist profession.

Participants can learn about the book keeper profession.

Youth house Liepaja. Participans can learn about organizing youth events, project managing, youth mentoring and support, record keeping etc.

Participants can learn about various professions in the company: marketing (marketing department manager, marketing specialist and graphic designer positions), procurement specialist, occupational safety specialist, quality manager, quality inspector, sales support specialist, metalworking operator, welder, personnel specialist/office administrator, technical department, and engineering positions.

A new and rapidly growing food production company specializing in fish processing and fish product production. Participants will learn about the everyday life and specifics of the industry and the start of the production plant, as well as food technology, food quality controller, laboratory assistant, shift foreman, operator, mechatronics engineer, and electrician professions. Participants will have the opportunity to practice in various activities that can use food products, as well as gain insight into other positions to better understand the specifics of the industry and career growth opportunities.
