Sustainable Silage study visit of pilot farmers to Finland
In 05.-07.of August 2024 Sustainable Silage pilot farmers and experts from Estonia and Latvia visited Finland and learned their experiences in using and testing agri-environmental practices in silage production. At first Finnish team members from ProAgria Western Finland and LUKE introduced Finnish agriculture and main practices used in silage management. Finnish farmers shared their experiences in using carbon-fixing practices, the group members observed the health of soils and plants in the fields. Also it was possible to see new silage storage technology in plastic tunnel, which enables to reduce the amounts of plastic waste. The group visited 3 pilot farms taking part in the project, and one farm, which is using regenerative farming practices.
