Application user tests about to start

As the new version of VINCE application is coming to test use in January 2025, all project partners both in Finland and Sweden, are starting new application tests with new migrant groups. These user tests are an essential part of the service design process. The immigrant users´ feedback and comments will be passed on to the technical development team at Turku UAS FIT-research group (Futuristic Interactive Technologies). They will get valuable data that will help the application development work and ensure that the app will genuinely meet the user needs.

Inviting diverse test users and organisations to collaborate

– We hope to connect with a wide variety of people to gather versatile feedback about the usability of the app. We also encourage organizations working with migrants to reach out to us for potential co-operation in app testing, says Katja Ollikainen from Sateenkari Koto ry.

– This new version of VINCE app will be available in Finnish, Swedish, English, and Ukrainian. For this reason, test users from these language groups are especially welcome at this stage to join us building VINCE better and stronger, continues Abdel Bettahar from International House Turku

Katja and Abdel will be organizing the tests in Finland.

Importance of service design as part of the project

Service design as a method is an important part of the VINCE project. This means that the migrants themselves will be involved in developing the application. Service design involves understanding user behaviors, challenges, and preferences, and then designing solutions that fit seamlessly into their lives, clarifies Emmi Brunel from Turku UAS. Emmi is working with the service design process for VINCE.

Service design as an approach will improve the user experience and help make the app more accessible, inclusive, and effective in assisting migrants and newcomers in their integration journey. It also helps align app’s development with the real-world needs of different migrant groups, across different languages and cultures.
