Hazardous Waste in Renovation Projects – Breakfast Seminar, 25 March
What may be hidden inside buildings when they are renovated, demolished or refurbished?
Depending on when a building was constructed, materials such as blue concrete, asbestos, mercury and other hazardous substances may be present. If not identified and handled correctly, these materials can pose serious risks to both people and the environment.
Eskilstuna has many older buildings from its industrial past that are now being renovated for new uses. While this creates great opportunities, it also requires knowledge and responsibility when hazardous waste is discovered.
You are welcome to a breakfast seminar on 25 March, 8:00–9:00, where the EU project Waste to Value will share practical examples of hazardous waste found in buildings from different time periods, where it has been identified, and how to act when hazardous materials are discovered during renovation projects.
Waste to Value is an EU-funded project focusing on reuse and waste reduction in the construction sector. The project is jointly run by the Municipality of Eskilstuna, Kfast and ReTuna, with the goal of reducing construction waste by approximately 50 tonnes over three years, in collaboration with Åland.
Breakfast will be served from 7:45
Place: Best Western Plaza Hotel, Drottninggatan 9, Eskilstuna, Sweden
Registration is required by 17 March, please register here: KLK – Waste to Value – Eskilstuna kommun
