Beach clean up event in Audru beach, Pärnu
University of Tartu Re:Fish project team members together with Estonian Fund for Nature volunteers. In total 4 km of the beach area was cleaned between the water and driveway.
During the clean-up event a web application to mark down the fish related litter was also tested and used. The application was developed during Re:Fish project to engage citizens to the collection of the fishing gear related litter.
The result
Total litter that was collected:
- Fishing gear related litter: 60 kg
- Plastic litter: 26 kg
- Glass litter (mostly bottles): 60 kg
- Household litter 20×100 L bags
Total litter approx. 5 m3.
Similar events will be repeated at the first half of the May.
