Exploring new ways to support newcomers: VINCE at the Resettlement Conference in Sweden
Presenting VINCE and opening up dialogue
Presenting project VINCE to a wide audience of professionals working with resettlement and integration sparked valuable conversations at the K.VO.T. Resettlement Conference, hosted by the Swedish Migration Agency this May. Annelie Ingmar from the County Administrative Board of Östergötland presented the project and different ways the app could support refugee resettlement and integration.
Valuable feedback from the field
The audience offered thoughtful and practical feedback on various aspects of the VINCE app—from preferred platforms and virtual meeting spaces to making the interface more accessible.
– There were good suggestions on how the app could better support newly arrived individuals, as well as those with learning difficulties. Features like voice input, simplified text, and virtual rooms that allow several participants to join at once are clearly in demand, told Ingmar.
Reaching people even before arrival
The initiative to present VINCE to municipal integration coordinators and other professionals came from Elina Södring at the Migration Agency.
– The VINCE app’s potential not only to address those who have already arrived in Sweden but also those who are still in their home country and facing relocation can make a big difference. They are eager for information, and the long waiting period can be used to absorb valuable knowledge, reminded Södring.
Looking ahead
It was inspiring to see the level of interest and engagement around VINCE. We look forward to continuing the conversation—and to develop the app further to make the path into a new society a little clearer and easier.
