Strengthening Cross-Border Collaboration: Vidzeme and Swedish Entrepreneurs Explore Inclusive Work Environment Solutions On-site and Online

Entrepreneurs from the Vidzeme region took part in a study visit to Sweden to learn first-hand about inclusive workplace solutions and social entrepreneurship practices. The visit took place within the Interreg project “Stronger Together”, which aims to support employers in building a more inclusive, people-centred and sustainable work environment step by step.

The training programme welcomed entrepreneurs from Sweden, creating a rich cross-border learning environment. In addition, online participation was made available, enabling more companies to benefit from the shared knowledge, best practices and discussions.

Why is this visit important for companies?

By joining the project, companies gain:

  • new knowledge and practical tools for creating an inclusive work culture;
  • an opportunity to strengthen social responsibility and reputation by contributing to positive societal change;
  • practical support in employee integration and onboarding processes;
  • sustainable solutions for addressing labour shortages by adapting employment models to the company’s needs.

These aspects are becoming increasingly important as companies across Europe seek new approaches to attract employees, strengthen teams and foster sustainable development.

Sweden’s expertise: inspiration for sustainable and inclusive growth

Sweden is well known for its advanced social entrepreneurship ecosystem and long-standing practices supporting the integration of people with diverse challenges into the labour market. During the study visit, participants:

  • heard inspiring stories of successful employee integration,

  • built new connections with Swedish entrepreneurs who prioritise inclusive and socially responsible development.

The programme included thematic lectures, group work sessions and practical tasks, such as:

  • a lecture on inclusion principles in Swedish workplaces and social enterprises;
  • real-life stories of individuals on their pathway to employment;
    discussions on common challenges and potential solutions;
  • practical tools and support mechanisms for employers.

Key takeaway: Sweden’s experience is valuable and applicable

The visit concluded with the shared understanding that Sweden’s experience offers highly valuable insights for companies in Latvia and across the region. Participants expressed strong interest in the “Employee as a Service” initiative, which provides a sustainable and supportive employment model that helps address labour shortages while strengthening corporate social responsibility.
