Sustainable silage field day in Estonia

In 31.07.2023 more than 40 farmers and silage experts from Estonia gathered to the “Sustainable silage” project field day in Hummuli farm, Valgamaa. The manager of the farm Mr. Are Selge introduced the agri-environmental farming practices used in Hummuli in the whole silage production chain, incl. how farm is mitigating the risks of nutrient leaks from silage effluents. Participants discussed also the opportunities how to ensure the sustainability of animal feed production – which kind of new measures could be used by farmers in order to adapt with climate changes and to secure the sufficient amount of high quality feed for animals in more difficult weather conditions.
