The mowing technology demo day brought together more than 100 Estonian farmers and silage specialists
The mowing technology demo day was held on 27. of May 2024 in Voore farm in the framework of the “Sustainable silage” project. The event focused on the mowing technology and the optimal wilting of legume-rich mixtures in silage production in order to avoid silage effluents. Seven companies selling mowing equipment introduced nine different mowers. At the end of the day dry matter samples were taken from the grass to evaluate which machine did the most accurate mowing work. Well-known silage experts shared their experiences for the production of high-quality silage. Quick and correct wilting ensures a high dry matter content, which in turn means more nutritious silage for animals and less silage effluents. Farmer Henrik Klammer introduced the ongoing field trials at Voore Farm. He demonstrated the sowing of grassland as a double row sowing at 45 degrees angle. In addition, the agricultural drone created by Agrodroon was demonstrated.
The results of the dry matter analyses in Estonian language with comments are published in the website of Estonian Chamber of Agriculture and Commerce: https://epkk.ee/epkk-niidutehnika-pollupaev-kinnitas-teada-todesid/
