Young Entrepreneurs Unite in Tartu for “Succeed in Business” Networking Event
On March 27–28, 2025, the city of Tartu became a vibrant hub for young entrepreneurs and aspiring business minds from Estonia, Latvia, and Finland, as they gathered for the highly anticipated “Succeed in Business” face-to-face meeting. The event placed a spotlight on two essential pillars of entrepreneurship: production and financing.
Over the course of two intensive days, participants were provided with hands-on tools and practical knowledge to boost their product development capabilities and strengthen their budgeting skills. The event also fostered a cross-border exchange of ideas, valuable networking, and meaningful collaboration — all within the context of today’s dynamic international business environment.
Day 1: Exploring Product Development and Prototyping
The first day was dedicated to product development and prototyping, featuring a lineup of experienced speakers and experts.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Sven Tobreluts, CEO of the Association of Municipalities of Tartu County, setting the stage for an engaging and informative gathering.
Following the opening, Jaanika Orav, Project Manager at the Association, introduced the goals and learning framework of the “Succeed in Business” program — providing participants with a clear road map for the event.
Participants gained practical insights from Marten Staal, an Estonian participant of ‘Succeed in Business’, who shared his experiences and key takeaways from the program.
The session on product development and prototyping was led by Mariliis Maremäe, Project Manager at the Association of Municipalities of Tartu County, equipping participants with essential tools and techniques for transforming ideas into viable products.
Ketter Ojakivi, Development Manager at the City of Tartu, highlighted various opportunities and support systems available for entrepreneurship in Tartu, helping young entrepreneurs understand the local business ecosystem.
Lastly, Jana Saastamoinen, Head Organizer at sTARTUp Day, provided insights into sTARTUp Day, one of the most significant business festivals in the region, inspiring participants with real-world examples of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Day 2: Budgeting and Exploring Innovative Learning Spaces
On the second day, hosted at Tartu Vocational College (VOCO), participants delved into the fundamentals of budgeting, guided by Mariliis Maremäe, who provided hands-on training to enhance financial planning skills.
A tour of VOCO was conducted by Ismail Mirzojev, Senior Teacher at VOCO, showcasing the institution’s state-of-the-art learning facilities and innovative approaches to vocational education.
Finally, Maret Ahonen, Business Consultant at Tartu Centre for Creative Industries, led a session on creative industries and business, emphasizing the role of creativity in entrepreneurship and offering strategies for young entrepreneurs to thrive in this dynamic sector.
Overall, the event was highly appreciated by participants and the hosts were noted for their engaging and interactive approach.
