Recognising Experience: Businesses and HR Professionals Embrace the Silver Workforce

In early July, Latvia hosted its national event as part of the ongoing international project dedicated to promoting the inclusion of the silver generation in the labour market. The event brought together participating companies and HR professionals to share insights, exchange good practices, and reflect on their experience working with older employees.

Throughout the day, engaging presentations, practical examples and open discussions highlighted how companies are successfully integrating experienced, senior workers into their teams. The message was clear: older employees bring knowledge, reliability and valuable perspectives — and their contribution must not be overlooked.

A particular highlight of the event was a keynote by a work and organisational psychologist, who addressed workplace culture and the importance of adapting it to support intergenerational cooperation. Her insights offered a refreshing perspective on how inclusive environments can empower both younger and older employees to thrive together.

The event was well attended and energising, sparking new thinking and reinforcing a shared commitment: to build workplaces that recognise experience as an asset, not a barrier.

The project is approaching its final stage – but the momentum continues

While no further events are planned, the project’s outcomes are already making a difference. Participating businesses have gained valuable knowledge, tools and confidence to continue engaging the silver workforce well beyond the project timeline. The message is lasting: an inclusive labour market needs all generations on board.
