Conference of Silver Strategies Showcases Solutions for an Inclusive Silver Economy

On 22 May 2025, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted the final international conference of the Silver Strategies project in Riga. The event gathered stakeholders from the business sector, policy makers, labour market experts and researchers to explore opportunities for boosting the silver economy and strengthening the involvement of people aged 55+ in the labour market.

The conference featured inspiring keynote speeches, practical company presentations, and a panel discussion on how to turn demographic change into economic growth and innovation. One of the key takeaways was that the silver economy is not about limitations — it’s about unlocking the potential of experience, encouraging intergenerational cooperation, and building inclusive workplaces.

Project partners from Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry also took part in the event, sharing their national perspectives and contributions to the project.

In addition, participants introduced insights and tools that will be part of an upcoming online handbook for HR professionals and organisations working with age-diverse teams. This handbook will serve as a practical outcome of the project and help companies better engage with the older generation in a meaningful and sustainable way.

The conference marked the successful conclusion of the Silver Strategies project, co-financed by the Central Baltic Programme 2014–2020. The project has contributed to raising awareness of demographic challenges, promoting active ageing, and supporting long-term cooperation between partners in Latvia, Estonia, and Finland.
