Five New Bike Maintenance Stations Installed in Pärnu

As part of the Cycle4Climate project, five new bike maintenance stations have been installed in Pärnu, Estonia, providing residents with convenient facilities to pump tyres and perform minor repairs.
Station Locations:
- At the Raba end of Raba–Lai Bridge
- Next to Mai Dog Park
- In the park on Kesk Street, Vana-Pärnu
- By Papiniidu Bridge
- At the intersection of Kalevi Street and Saare Street, Raeküla
The locations were chosen based on over 300 public suggestions.
Encouraging Year-Round Cycling
These maintenance stations directly support cycling as a sustainable mode of urban transport. By providing accessible facilities for minor repairs and tyre maintenance, they make it easier and more convenient for residents to choose cycling over driving. The stations also enable cyclists to start the riding season earlier by allowing them to handle basic maintenance themselves, without needing to visit paid repair shops. This encourages more frequent bicycle use, contributing to the project’s goals of reducing urban CO₂ emissions, promoting healthier lifestyles, and fostering environmentally friendly mobility.
Community-Driven Solution
The installation of the maintenance stations responds to feedback gathered during the European Mobility Week survey in 2024, where residents shared ideas for making cycling in Pärnu more attractive and practical. Many emphasised the need for better cyclist support services, including comfortable infrastructure, improved safety, and easier access to affordable bike care. Residents noted that the lack of convenient options for simple maintenance tasks often discourages cycling, particularly at the beginning of the season when bikes require small adjustments after winter.
