BALTGEM

BALTGEM

Many smaller destinations around the Baltic Sea are overshadowed by larger and better-known tourist destinations in international markets. Tourism SMEs in Finland’s Satakunta region, Latvia’s Kurzeme region and Sweden’s Nedre Dalälven region often lack UK-specific tourism expertise, targeted promotional materials and product development skills needed to reach UK travellers.

In BALTGEM, we bring businesses from the three regions together to create joint tourism experiences for lifestyle travellers. Together, we develop attractive multi-country itineraries that connect the regions through the Baltic Sea, while also building partnerships with UK tour operators to bring these experiences to market. By working together, we help local tourism businesses reach new customers in the UK and increase their sales.

Expected results

We expect to create 15 sales agreements between Finnish, Latvian and Swedish tourism SMEs and UK tour operators. Together, we help tourism businesses improve their understanding of the UK market, develop new tourism products and build long-term international partnerships. We create the first joint Finland–Sweden–Latvia tourism products designed for lifestyle travellers interested in lesser-known Baltic Sea destinations. By combining the strengths of the three regions into well-connected multi-country travel experiences, we increase the visibility of hidden Baltic Sea destinations in the UK market. In the long term, we strengthen cross-border tourism cooperation and create new business opportunities for SMEs across the three countries.
