Sustainable construction expertise from the Central Baltic region to Korea

BuildGreen – Korea is an Interreg Central Baltic cooperation project supporting SMEs from the sustainable construction sector in entering the South Korean market. The project brings together organisations from Estonia, Finland, and Latvia to help companies strengthen export readiness, develop joint market offerings, and establish long-term business opportunities in one of Asia’s most advanced and innovation-driven construction markets.

Although many Central Baltic SMEs already have strong expertise in sustainable and industrialised construction, entering distant markets such as Korea remains challenging due to unfamiliar business environments, fragmented market approaches, and limited international visibility. Instead of one-off promotional activities, the project aims to create a trust-based market entry corridor between the Central Baltic region and Korea.

Main activities

The project combines practical export support and international cooperation activities, including:

  • Korean market analysis and positioning activities
  • SME trainings and export readiness support
  • Study visits and trade missions to South Korea
  • Joint offering and demonstrator development
  • Product and system testing with Korean stakeholders
  • B2B matchmaking and stakeholder workshops
  • Communication and international visibility activities

Expected results:

  • 60 SMEs in strengthening export readiness for the Korean market
  • 30 SMEs in developing Korea-adapted market approaches and communication tools
  • 9 companies in achieving new sales and business contracts

The project will also strengthen long-term cooperation between Central Baltic and Korean organisations while increasing the international visibility of sustainable construction expertise from the region.
