About the project

Urban transport generates high CO₂ emissions due to heavy car reliance and fragmented transit options. Transport Carbon Emission Reduction – Cross-border Exchange (TRACER-X) project addresses this by uniting cities, businesses, and residents to pilot scalable mobility solutions across key transport nodes in the Central Baltic area.

The project invites tech solution providers to co-create and pilot practical services and solutions alongside municipalities, regional authorities, and local residents in real-world urban settings.

The project plans to:

• Define local challenges with target groups and establish clear emission baselines for targeted transport hubs.
• Implement eight agile CO₂ reduction pilots in key transport nodes across Helsinki, Stockholm, Tallinn, and Riga, giving small businesses a space to test low-carbon solutions.
• Develop a shared Agile Piloting Guidebook and Playbook to help municipalities overcome administrative hurdles (such as permits and data access) and scale innovations across borders.
• Build regional roadmaps and capacity to encourage lasting behavioural changes and support daily commuters in choosing cleaner transport options.
