BaLiSEdu

BaLiSEdu strengthens marine literacy in Finland, Estonia, and Latvia by helping Environmental and Nature Education Centres expand their focus from land-based topics to the Baltic Sea. Through close collaboration between environmental educators and leading marine research institutes, the project transforms up to date scientific knowledge into accessible, practical learning materials. The core output is a jointly developed Marine Educational Package (MEP), designed to make the Baltic Sea’s ecosystems, challenges, and human impacts understandable for the wider public.

Expected results

The project delivers a high quality pilot Marine Educational Package (MEP) in English, tested across all partner countries and then adapted to national contexts and languages. This results in a set of locally relevant MEP versions that strengthen public outreach services in Environmental and Nature Education Centres and provide a long term, cross border resource for marine education. By improving the availability and usability of marine learning materials, BaLiSEdu enhances cooperation between educators and scientists, increases public awareness of the Baltic Sea, and supports more responsible everyday choices among citizens.
