South Savo in Finland and Valga County in Estonia face similar labour market challenges: youth unemployment is high, many young people move away, and those entering working life often lack the skills, networks and confidence they need. At the same time, employers in both regions struggle to find motivated and skilled young people who are ready for work. MYJOB responds to this challenge by developing a joint cross-border coaching model for young people under 26. The project combines workshops, personalised coaching, mentoring, work-based learning and hackathon-based activities to strengthen confidence, career readiness, employability and connections with employers. In this way, MYJOB helps young people move closer to employment, education or entrepreneurship.
Expected results
MYJOB will create and test a practical cross-border coaching model that supports young people in building career readiness, labour market skills and self-confidence needed in working life. The model will be piloted in Finland and Estonia with at least 60 young participants, of whom at least 50 are expected to complete the full programme. Educators, employers and youth services will also be involved in developing and validating the model, and more than 50 stakeholders will participate in joint design, validation and dissemination activities. As a result, South Savo and Valga County will have a stronger and more structured way to support young people’s transition to working life. Through cross-border cooperation, the model will also become more transferable to other rural regions facing similar labour market challenges.
