The rapid development of AI and automation is transforming labour markets in Estonia and Latvia, particularly affecting clerical, administrative, and service roles. Women are overrepresented in these positions, which are often low-paid or insecure, and up to 38% of related tasks are at high risk of automation. The project SheCanAI addresses this challenge by focusing on vulnerable women who risk exclusion from the digital labour market without reskilling. It aims to equip them with practical AI implementation skills that go beyond basic digital literacy. Through a structured reskilling programme, internships and mentoring, the project enables women to transition into more secure and future-proof career paths.
The project will train 200 women through a comprehensive 250-hour programme combining online learning, mentoring, and practical projects. At least 150 participants are expected to complete the programme, with half achieving positive labour market outcomes such as new jobs, internships, or AI-related responsibilities. The initiative will strengthen employability and enable women to actively implement AI solutions in their workplaces, acting as drivers of innovation. By supporting participants from both Estonia and Latvia, including those outside urban centres and from vulnerable groups, the project promotes inclusive and resilient labour markets across borders. Ultimately, it contributes to a more equitable digital transformation where women are not only participants but leaders in adopting AI technologies.
