About project

Maritime emergencies do not stop at national borders. Estonia and Finland share the Gulf of Finland, where increasing boat traffic, changing weather conditions and growing security risks require closer cooperation between voluntary maritime rescue organisations.

The My Sea – Prepare and Act project was launched to improve preparedness for maritime crisis situations and strengthen cross-border cooperation. The project addresses the need for common procedures and practical training that enable voluntary rescue organisations to respond efficiently to emergencies such as maritime rescue operations, communication disruptions, evacuations and mass rescue situations.

During the project, Estonian and Finnish partners will jointly develop a common response model for maritime crises. The project will organise expert meetings, workshops and pilot training courses, produce practical educational videos and guidance materials, and test the new cooperation model through a joint cross-border exercise.

The project will benefit voluntary maritime rescue organisations, boat owners, coastal communities and local authorities by improving their preparedness, practical skills and cooperation. In the long term, the project will contribute to safer waters, stronger resilience and more effective cross-border emergency response throughout the Gulf of Finland region.
