In many European countries, valuable and repairable goods still end up as residual waste because current systems make it difficult to reuse or recycle them. People are increasingly interested in sustainable choices, but they often lack convenient options for recycling or borrowing instead of buying.
The ReSolutions project tackles this challenge by making recycling more accessible and engaging. It will encourage people to participate in the circular economy, help expand local “Libraries of Things” where people can borrow items instead of buying them, and improve how repairable goods are sorted and reused.
By working together across borders in Finland, Sweden and Latvia, the project can share knowledge and develop new ideas that work in different local contexts. This cooperation will help reduce waste and encourage more sustainable ways of living.
ReSolutions will help create more options for borrowing, repairing, and reusing everyday goods. The project will support new and existing “Libraries of Things”, where people can borrow for example tools, and other items. It will also introduce better ways to collect reusable items at waste stations.
Through creative workshops and innovation events, new ideas for upcycling (turning old items into new products) will be developed and shared.
The project will lead to less waste, more reused products, and new opportunities for businesses and communities. By working across Finland, Sweden, and Latvia, the project will ensure the solutions are useful by scaling developed solutions according to the needs of the communities and the scope of the local areas.
